I would say the most important trait to build in any endeavor is the ability to be persistent. Sticking with something, no matter what obstacles present themselves virtually guarantees that you will succeed in your mission. Not only that, but it will make getting over the tough spots easier, because you know where you are going and you know that the good things are never easy.
I have been telling people that I am a public speaker for close to two years now; long before I was ever an actual public speaker. But I knew that it was something that I would enjoy, and I knew that I would be good at it. In the last 10 days I have had 3 different speaking events. One of which, I was the main attraction.
I have been telling myself that I am going to own my own business for about three years now. So far I have successfully created two businesses, unsuccessfully created two others and am finally to one that I am ridiculously excited about that I am working on right now. I have not gotten to the point that I want to be at yet (living solely off the business’s income), but I am getting closer and closer. I am learning the skills necessary to achieve that dream.
Persistence. Stick-to-it. Master this one skill, and the world is yours.
