Preperation Meets Opportunity

I have to share wonderful news.  I have heard that luck is simply what happens when preparedness meets opportunity.  Well, man did I have some luck.  I was talking with a friend at my other friends’ Thor and Caeli’s wedding about everything that I am doing with marketing, writing and social media and he offered me the chance to do some social media work for him.  I am incredibly happy because this gives me the opportunity to get more experience in this medium, as well as make some extra cash on the side.

This also goes along with what I have been preaching: have a goal.  I have been trying to break into the social media landscape as a viable income source for over a year now.  I have been studying, practicing and talking to anyone who will listen about it.  Sticking with it and not giving up lead me to a friend who just so happened to have an opportunity.  And BAM, I got some luck.  So I will keep you updated on how that is going, as well as my continued goal to find more social media work in Iowa (his company is in Colorado).

To explain my preaching a little bit more: I have been spouting that people should think about their thoughts, beliefs, actions and life in general.  One of the best things you can do with this thinking is to think about what you really want out of your life and what would make you, and those around you, the happiest.  I have come to the conclusion that I want time control.  I want to be able to be where I want when I want.  I know that this would be impossible 100% of the time, but I think I can do better than being behind a desk from 8 til 5 Monday thru Friday.  That is why I am so excited by the social media side job, because if I can create more of those all I need to do my job is a computer attached to the internet.  I could take it with me on a bike ride and tweet or post from deep within the woods.

Here is to getting what you want out of life!g
